A deconstruction of classic Mysore sandalwood, rebuilt around the idea of hypothetical scent. D.S. & Durga perfumer David Seth Moltz imagined a tube amplifier inside an old radio made of sandalwood, its heat opening the pores of the wood and releasing puffs of musky cedar, peach, coconut, lactones, and milk. Real Mysore sandalwood has been overharvested and is no longer used by perfumers, so Radio Bombay recreates its smooth, elegant character. Picture the radio in a small, hot shop in Bandra, the “Brooklyn” of Bombay, with ragas and Geeta Dutt tunes jangling out of its tiny speaker.
