My Story
From a very young age, I learned to associate thinness and beauty with happiness. At the age of 11, I became bulimic; at twelve, I started binging, purging, and exercising religiously. And by fourteen, I was both bulimic and anorexic. For most of my adolescent and adult life, I swung from binging to restricting to yo-yo dieting in a circle of self-loathing and guilt. It wasn’t until I gave birth to my first child that my perspective shifted – the bigger picture became so clear.
I was responsible for setting an example, and I knew that to become the best mother I could be, I had to become healthy and happy. I chose to dedicate myself to health, wellness, and self-love, rather than my appearance. I strove to learn everything I could about health and wellness. On my journey, it amazed me that as I became healthier and healthier, my skin glowed, my hair and nails were healthier, the whites of my eyes became whiter, my teeth and gums healthier. All of these things indicate beauty radiated from the inside out.
“Establishing a healthy relationship with food and my body has created such peace and power for me.”
It has taken me ten years to arrive where I am now, to own my truth, to love myself and my body, and respect it for all the miraculous functions it performs. I have learned to fuel myself and to heal myself through nutrition. I don’t think an eating disorder is ever truly “fixed,” but establishing a healthy relationship with food and my body has created such peace and power for me. I hope to help and guide my clients to find their strength and develop a functional, practical, and healthy lifestyle by sharing my knowledge, recipes, health tips, and advice.
